Boardmaker can be used to make different pics based on classroom activities. By having this available, teachers can make pics according to the different options offered in their class.
I have used this digital technology in my own classroom and with it I have been able to customize a day plan specific to a students needs. Below is an example of a day plan for a student with exceptional needs. They receive pics (created for them on Boardmaker) for each activity during their day.
Student receives a different pic for each daily activity. As the activity is completed it is place onto a velcro "First Then" strip located on their desk.
Alternatively, "First Then" boards can be made and used for all students so that they could organize their work independently.
This would work nicely in a classroom following the Universal Design for Learning. For this the teacher would need to set up certain routines for lessons and learning targets. Then students would have a learning structure in which they could use the tools from their own toolbelt. They could use their tools to complete learning with technologies and processes specific to their own needs. Teachers could make a student pics of work options created on Boardmaker. These options could be designed specifically based on a students toolbelt. Then they could place their pics on their "First Then" located on their desk to let their teacher know how they wish to plan out their own day.
